The Louisiana Tech College of Business took another major stride forward last month when it announced a partnership with the nationally recognized Dale Carnegie Training.

Tech joins just a handful of universities across the country to partner with the prestigious Dale Carnegie Training.

Dale Carnegie Training is based off the teachings of renowned self-help author Dale Carnegie.

Carnegie’s 75-year-old book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” has sold over 15 million copies and ranks first on Amazon Book’s success category.

Dr. Chris Martin, dean of the College of Business, said he is excited about the opportunity to partner with the nationally known firm.

“Dale Carnegie Training is known in the business community as being one of an elite few among leadership and performance training firms world-wide,” Martin said. “We are excited to partner with such a prestigious and highly respected organization.”

The training centers on management and leadership, but also includes a broad variety of other training courses that range from communication to sales presentations.

The partnership was made possible through Sean Dwyer, the director of Tech’s Center for Executive and Professional Development.

The goal of the CEPD-Dale Carnegie Training partnership is to offer the Northern Louisiana business community training programs that can enhance the productivity and effectiveness of their employees’ and firm’s performance,” Dwyer said. “The CEPD will do this by offering public, open-enrollment programs as well as through on-site, firm-sponsored training that can be tailored to the firms’ and their employees’ needs.”

Earlier this year Dwyer was named the new director of the CEPD and immediately went to work, transforming a stagnant center into a partnership with the distinguished firm.

Tech’s state-of-the-art business building will serve as one of the hosts for the training, while the CEPD will market the program throughout the area. Training will also be offered at Tech’s Shreveport Center campus.

Local businesses will be provided with an opportunity for on site, personalized training, customized for the specific needs of the company.

“The Dale Carnegie Course: Skills for Success” will be offered on Aug. 18 in Shreveport and Sept. 14 in Ruston. Courses like these will offer CEPD opportunity for further expansion.

“We also plan to have our faculty deliver workshops and seminars in their respective fields of expertise,” Dwyer said.  “I expect to start those programs in the late fall.”
